Although I have been developing intranet sites for over 10 years, the past few years I have been working on intranet design for SharePoint 2007. The concept of designing the taxonomy is not that much different except that SharePoint provides additional options for metadata that we did not have before. Along with this metadata comes the requirement for us to thoroughly design our taxonomy. In the SharePoint Business Manager course I teach through SeattlePro Enterprises I spend an entire day covering taxonomy design and how moving content to SharePoint requires a shift in thinking. Although this is a rather large topic to cover in a single blog, I thought I would provide the references that I use to help make the process a little easier.
